Product Description
Item:
A white cotton German transitional duvet cover with a large diamond opening on the front to place the insert. This is a special transition style of duvet cover, from the button-on sheets to the duvets we see today. Here the duvet is inserted in the diamond-shaped opening and the duvet would show since it was usually a nice elaborate fabric. Later the duvet cover would become the large envelopes we know today.
Measurement:
48in x 76in
Condition:
Good.
German duvet covers are smaller than American comforter covers, typically, the duvets sit on top of the bed, and don't go over the side usually. The duvet inside is typically fluffy and puffed up, it sits on the bed like a cloud and you feel like you are sleeping under one too. These are not made for standard American beds, so you need to measure and check for sizing. We find we can use a Full size feather bed with these and put it on a twin or full size bed.
Our linens are purchased directly from estates, and in some cases, antique markets or private homes, and due to the very large volume in which we buy and sell them, we obviously cannot clean and restore them ourselves and still keep them so very affordable. Thus, all these stored-for-decades linens must be assumed to have storage marks, fold-line darkening, etc. Some may look pristine, some will need a good bath. Any damage, or discoloration that we feel may not come out with proper cleaning, will be described. All of these are sold as is, in other words they need washing. We sell a fantastic array of specialized cleaning products to handle anything, and we provide detailed care instructions.
