Product Description
Item:
A pair of German white cotton flannel blanket protectors. Each blanket has a hand embroidered A L in one corner. The blanket protectors have a purple and lemon stripe woven at the top and lower edge.Blanket protectors were made to help keep blankets (expensive items then) clean and fresh. They were placed over the top of the bed, so that the sleeper touched the protector rather than the blanket. This top also kept the blanket clean and served as a bed adornment, rather like a bedspread. Sometimes it would be placed half on the underside and over the top, almost like a sheet, but not all the way down the bed. You can turn these into a sheet by adding fabric to the length. They also make great curtains or wall hangings. Adding a sleeve at the top or folding over the top part to form a sleeve is easy, sew a straight seam and you have a valance or a curtain
Measurement:
76in in width and 52in long.
Condition:
Need a gentle launder. A tiny gray spot on one.
Our linens are purchased directly from estates, and in some cases, antique markets or private homes, and due to the very large volume in which we buy and sell them, we obviously cannot clean and restore them ourselves and still keep them so very affordable. Thus, all these stored-for-decades linens must be assumed to have storage marks, fold-line darkening, etc. Some may look pristine, some will need a good bath. Any damage, or discoloration that we feel may not come out with proper cleaning, will be described. All of these are sold as is, in other words they need washing. We sell a fantastic array of specialized cleaning products to handle anything, and we provide detailed care instructions.
