Product Description
Antique cotton over-towel (Over-towels hung over a swinging bar in front of a kitchen towel rack, where more utilitarian towels were hung by loops from hooks e the over-towel hid the plain, work-a-day towels from view, and displayed your best handiwork done to match your kitchen, or offer a motto or blessing to encourage you throughout your day. Over-towels were not actually used; they were purely decorative, folded over then pinned or basted to stay in place. They are commonly cut down to make pillow fronts, and are a great use of the embroidery, plus have built-in backing material, as well!) with hand embroidered red-work embroidery depicting Cinderella feeding the birds, her wood-chopping and other work set aside. Measures 41 1/2 x 25 7/8 when hung. Excellent condition; clean. There is some fading of the red in some of the floss; an area of contrast at the fold-over top, shown. Our linens are purchased directly from estates, and in some cases, antique markets or private homes, and due to the very large volume in which we buy and sell them, we obviously cannot clean and restore them ourselves and still keep them so very affordable. Thus, all these stored-for-decades linens must be assumed to have storage marks, fold-line darkening, etc. Some may look pristine, some will need a good bath. Any damage, or discoloration that we feel may not come out with proper cleaning, will be described. All of these are sold as is, in other words they need washing. We sell a fantastic array of specialized cleaning products to handle anything, and we provide detailed care instructions.

It took me some time to find tea table size doilies and I must say all the of six doilies (each different) I ordered from Touch of Europe are in most excellent condition exactly as they described. I am most pleased with the products I purchased and recommend Touch of Europe to everyone at the highest level.

    Beautiful Redwork Overtowel, 4.12.2011

I bought 11 different Red Work Overtowels to use as curtains in my kitchen. They are perfect! The fabric is wonderful and the work is beautifully done. The fact that they are antique and hand embroidered makes them so unusual and eye catching. I only had to add curtain clip rings and fold them to the length I wanted then hang them up.
