Product Description
Gorgeous never-used very vintage fine pure cotton set of two matching cut-work embroidered single sheets and matching pair of European pillow shams all with a monogram A. B. . These were obviously custom ordered and stored never used e still in their original folds and never washed or used. Perfect condition. German sheets from this period had buttonholes on the edges in order to fasten them to a blanket. This protected the hard-to-wash heavy woolen blankets so that only the sheets need be washed rather than the blankets e blanket washing was a yearly endeavor. The button holes can be ignored of course. The shams are made with two rows of buttonholes and would have had double-sided buttons rather like a cufflink e you can sew two buttons loosely back-to-back to replicate these but it is much easier to simply sew a button over each one of one of the sets of buttonholes and then button as one would regular buttoned shams. The sheets are singles and measure 58 x 99 and the shams measure 31. 5 x 31. Excellent unused condition.
