Winning Summer Combinations
As an alternative to sodium laden sodas, try some syrup and make some refreshing drinks with panache!
Here are some suggestions. Unless otherwise indicated, use about 8 parts liquid to 1 part syrup. Adjust according to taste and desired sweetness level.
La Pléiade
2 parts Anise Syrup
1 part Lemon juice
mix with club soda or mineral water, garnish with lemon or lime slice
Sunny Drink
to 1 part Cherry syrup, add 4 parts pineapple juice and 4 parts Passion Fruit juice (you can substitute any red fruit juice)
Serve over ice, garnish with a cherry
Raspberry Milkshake
3 tablespoons of Raspberry Syrup
1 Teaspoon Honey
7 oz milk
ice to taste (we use a few cubes and add more if needed)
Put it all in the blender and puree till smooth
Garnish with a sprig of mint and a fresh raspberry
Peachy Keen
6 fresh mint leaves,crushed
2 teaspoons brown sugar (light or dark)
1 to 2 tablespoons peach syrup
Add to club soda or sparkling mineral water (about 8 parts to 1 part syrup) and blend
This one can also be served warm, putting the first three ingredients in tea for example
