The weather was gorgeous, typical Georgia in Spring, sunny and beautiful!  And we had fun – despite the occasional glitches but then that’s what ‘soft openings’ are for.  We have a while until our big opening party (sign up for the newsletter to get notified!) – so we’re just taking it one step at a time.  We had a fun day with familiar and new faces, and great comments and compliments, all nice to hear.

We took tons of pictures and will continue to do so – and because a picture is worth a thousand words, here are some thirty thousand some words! Our wonderful group of creative people did a fantastic job, from the ordering, the buying, the organizing and the decorating, and especially keeping things running smoothly while we were trying to get this up and running and keep the regular online business going at the same time. A big huge thank you to everyone (and you know who you are!)

Now we are in the countdown for the store to open. We had hoped for April 15, but it may be a bit later, but we will do our best to be ready as soon as we can – people keep coming to the door and want to see, we love it!

The landscaper will begin Saturday so it should all start looking nice outside too.

The basic layout is pretty much done but lots of finishing touches are needed, as well as lots of learning, since none of us have used the new software before. But those are all fun jobs. For the moment the biggest problem this week, during our first week of actual heat, was getting the air conditioning fixed! That was done today but not before we all experienced how sweltering those 134 feet of windows can be. We have curtains up now, but thankfully the air was fixed today. And of course the weather turned cool just in time for that. Ha!

We bought back half a truck load of cool items for the store, some really good furniture pieces and some large accessories. And several big shipments from Europe are arriving in the next day or so, it’s exciting!

It’s been a busy few months. After the harrowing move in the snow, the fun began.

Warehouse went from a huge mess to this in about 2 weeks:

and how amazing how fast over 6,000 sq ft of warehouse space can fill up. We shopped a lot in January!

Once everything was more or less back to normal, the fun stuff began. Getting the store done. It’s a big space, over 4,000 sq ft. And we had been buying props and stuff for the past 4 months. It seemed like a lot at the time, but amazingly it was swallowed up by the space in no time.

The signs outside are progressing – still one part missing but it’s coming!

Trying to decide where to put things was a challenge. Shopping the warehouse for the items to display is fun but can be a touch overwhelming – we have over 8,000 items there.

Just before we go to Texas, there are real signs that this is going to be a cool store!
