These coupons can be used by the Military stationed abroad, in any commissary, and the best part is they can use coupons up to 6 months after they expire, so don’t throw them out!

Auguste Fauchon created the company that bears his name in 1886. He developed the Fauchon store in Paris, France, on Place de la Madeleine in the 8th arrondissement. Given the high quality of his produce and packaged goods made by its suppliers, the Fauchon Company quickly became very famous internationally.

Today the famous stores are a trademark in Paris, with their hot pink and black advertising and awning – and edgy commercials and photographs – see for yourself…

The first Fauchon Store Opened in 1886 in Place de la Madeleine (still there today). In 1891, the company caused a sensation by opening a Grandes Cave (large cellar) designed to hold up to 800,000 bottles of wine.

In 1898 the iconic Salon de Thé opens – it will become a Paris Institution visited and loved by the wealthy and sophisticated from all over the world.

Adding to his reputation, in 1900 Auguste Fauchon was referred to by discerning customers as one of the top wine suppliers and one who would ‘take care of everything’ for his loyal clientele.

In 1945 the store is passed on to the Fauchon children when Auguste Fauchon dies.

In 1952, an expansion made Fauchon one of the first stores of its kind to import exotic delicacies by air, allowing customers to buy strawberries in January, or to discover such exotic fare as kiwi and avocados.

In the 1960s Fauchon continues to innovate with the first scented teas, including fruit and flower varieties still highly appreciated to this day.

Today Fauchon has outlets in Asia, including China and Japan, and exports worldwide.

Advent (from the Latin word adventus meaning “Coming’) is observed in many Western Christian Churches, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.

It is the beginning of the Western liturgical year begins on Advent Sunday.

The progression of the season is often marked with an Advent Calendar, a practice introduced by German Lutherans. At least in the Roman Catholic, Lutheran and Anglican calendars, Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before December 25.

The origin of the Advent Calendar can be traced back to the 19th Century. Religious families made a chalk line on the door for every day in December until Christmas Eve.

The first known Advent Calendar which was made by handwork dates from 1851.

Other early styles were the Adventclock or the Advent candle – a candle for each of the 24 days until Christmas, like todays Advent wreath.

Sometimes little pictures were hang up on the wall – one for each day in December.

In 1902 a Christian Bookshop in Hamburg, Germany published a Christmas Clock which was very similar to that published 1922 by the St. Johannis printing company. (Dominik Wunderlin, lic. phil. Swizzerland).

1903 appears to be the year of the first printed Advent Calendar.

In 1904 an Advent Calendar was inserted in the newspaper “Neues Tagblatt Stuttgart” as a gift for their readers. In the early days, Bible verses would often replace the pictures behind the doors.

We know that Advent Calendars filled with Chocolate were already available in 1958.

Fabric permanent Advent calendars can be reused and filled with small treats, to even small symbolic items to help teach children the meaning of the time of year.

We were in the woods part, close to the actual mountain, shaded by pine trees and in winding paths.

The crowds came and enjoyed! Judging from the comments on the Country Living Facebook page, everyone had a great time. Country Living is sure to have pictures and videos on their site soon. Here are some preliminary pictures of the show in Atlanta, but not everyone is home yet! We saw people from as far away as California, Canada and way South Florida – Naples and Fort Myers.

We hope they decide to come back, it was a blast and we loved meeting so many people and seeing so many friendly and enthusiastic faces.

This show was probably the hottest one yet. We struggled for the first 2 days as we unloaded a gigantic truck.

The booth starts as a big empty space – almost 1,000 sq ft. In an old building with a corrugated metal ceiling, wood walls, beams, and wood floors. No air conditioning, sadly. In Spring not an issue but in Fall we’d probably sell our mothers for some cooler air indoors….

Once that part is done we go home and prepare for a long day ahead. This is when we start unloading merchandise. Tubs and tubs and more tubs.

We start before 7 AM and by noon we have a lot out already, and there are buyers around also…

Then the fun part begins – make it all pretty and attractive, clear and organized.
