Shopping the shows in January in ‘interesting’ weather
Most of the big wholesale shows take place between the first week of January and the middle of February. It’s not always this bad but this year, we’ve had a record in weather issues affecting our buyer!
First was the arrival in Paris, January 21, during hurricane-force winds and rain. Right at the start of the French Maison et Objet show.Storm Wreaks Havoc in France and Spain
Next was the conditions currently hitting England, and affecting all areas of daily life. This is of course during the Birmingham Spring Fair, one of the biggest general merchandise shows.
Worse snowstorm in 18 years apparently.
We can’t say we don’t go the extra mile for our jobs! But we sure do wish the shows were in April. Or May. Or anytime other than January really.
Those new goodies arriving at our warehouse soon were bought in extreme conditions!
